Happy Friday, everyone! Today, I am highlighting one of my favorite women in science for Foundational Female Friday.
Carolyn Bertozzi is a phenomenal chemist, a fantastic speaker, and an all around great human to interact with. If you ever have a chance to see her speak (her Ted Talk in linked in this carousel), take it!
Not only is she a Nobel prize winning scientist, but she has been very open about being LGBTQ+ in science. She is also a mother, and she weaves in stories about her family life into her talks in such an effortless way.
Dr. Bertozzi reminds me that we are all fulfilling multiple roles at one time. We are all scientists and other identities. Just because we are one of those, does not mean we cannot be simultaneously other things as well.
Let me know in the comments below: Have you seen Dr. Bertozzi talk? What did you think?
Would you like to nominate a Foundational Female? Let me know!
